i'm a little excited. beware of overblogging... says a voice behind my ear, but no matter... today was a big day somehow.

found a great hike in, of all places, studio city... and walked with the movie stars. it was quite beautiful actually, and a culturally unique la exprerience. sometimes living in pasadena i feel so seperate from mainstream life of our city. like, for example, when christy and i went to see a movie saturday night and i felt like i was in florida in the middle of winter, there were so many people there who could be said to have "senior status". but i digress.

MY CLEAR CREDENTIAL IS HERE!!!! i had a secret fear that the state of california was going to tell me that i had to take fifteen MORE credits and two MORE tests in order to be certified to teach here forever and ever. but after a mere 8 months of waiting, they sent my credential right to my doorstep. so nice of them. i didn't even have to drive up to sacramento. good thing i haven't "technically" needed it the past 8 months, although they did post date it, so it never expired. just one of those things that makes you sigh a deep one and drink a beer. WHEW!

and, exciting thing number 2 is that my old roomie is moved out a day early and new one moves in tommorow, and this feels like a wonderful thing.

and finally, and maybe most exciting of all... my rei adventures t shirt!!! i can be an american groupie in france. ok wait. it just feels so good to have a matching t shirt that is not intervarsity or urban youth workers or christian in any way. (sorry rudy, i know you love those shirts...) and honestly, matching t shirts are disturbing in most cases, including this one... but I AM GOING TO FRANCE!!!!!!!

ok, about these hikers.

i had this running dialogue the whole time. one of the ones you think about blogging, and then is not as funny when you actually blog it, it doesn't flow quite right but...

oh, this is a big hill.
this is good, i need big hills.
i can do this.
it's pretty here.
those women are walking fast. they have strong butt muscles.
that lady has a braid. i like braids. maybe i'll start wearing braids so i don't get a headache.
these are pretty trees.
i like the sun shining through the trees.
that lady looks like she's in a picture walking into the sunlight with her braid.
hmmm. pretty.

why is that guy yelling? is he cussing? yes yes he is cussing a lot. i can't see that far ahead. is he joking? no he sounds very angry. i hear yelping. what is he saying?

man says something like... (this is r rated) what the f*** is wrong with you b... i'm so sick of you f***ing people with your big f***ing dogs. put you dog on a f***ing leash. my dog keeps getting f***ing mauled by people like you. i'm calling the police. don't you know it's a law?

i then pass a flustered woman who verifies that i am indeed hearing a real live voice. that nut kicked my dog, she kept saying to herself.

back to my internal dialogue.

oh my.
i don't think i'm in pasadena.
oh look, there's la.
it's quite pretty actually.
i'm climbing very high.
this is nice.
who knew this was here.

later on.

it's busy here.
it's the rose bowl walking track of studio city.
except more fashionable.
i live in los angeles.

i think that lady had fake breasts, but i can never really tell.
blond hair.
big muscles.
why is she not sweating?
european sunglasses.
running very fast.

nice flowers along this ridge. i can't believe i'm in studio city. oh, a sycamore grove. that sun is so beautiful. this breeze is perfect. i'm glad i live here.

mmm. i'm going to france.
