my sound production studying roommate and i turned our living room into a recording studio today. i've entered an alternate dimension after watching sound waves and listening to my voice in three parts for the last twelve hours. it's always strange to hear what others hear. i learned a lot about myself from hearing from a different place, and i feel energized.
we recorded all of the songs for peter pan, with piano, then vocals. ten thousand thanks to conxi, who is still "bouncing" all the songs so we can burn them onto a cd.
it feels like a tremendous weight off my shoulders, and tommorow i go to rehearsal armed with a recording to use during blocking so i don't have to play piano, sing, and dance at the same time.
moving forward, accomplishing something that two days ago seemed impossible, is such an adreneline rush. it feels like teaching with passion, and it's a labor of love, not only for the music, the dramatic and creative, not even only for my students, but for me. becuase i love this too, and though it's almost 2 in the morning and i'm still not done... doing my best work feels so satisfying.
