my 2/3 combo class at the temple is amazing. they sing like no children i've ever taught, except in africa... and they come up with the wildest plans.

"i know ms straayer... how about if we start with the drum and then we can all sing it and then the xylophones could play but really quiet and then we can all dance together but all of a sudden we can stop and freeze and everyone will be surprised!"

so today, we found our "groove" again in the middle of froggie went a courtin' and he did ride. this word i use sometimes when we find the beat all together and the magic clicks into place. they recognize it now, and when we finished our small taste of beautiful music, one burst out "HEY! I FELT THE GROOVE!!!"

i went on, laughing, with a statement about how their groove is getting so strong...

yes yes, yes we all agree.... we are so good... more discussion about beat.

and from david in the back row.

"yeah but you didn't teach us that ms straayer. we were always groovy... you were just the one to hear it."
