not feeling too well today, woke up with a big sinus headache, which i guess is really common here due to the dust and wind. i just got some good drugs to help, but pray for a quick recovery.... i don't teach on fridays, so i'm grateful for a bit of rest. i'm feeling a bit of the "i have a month more to go without seeing or talking to any of you sadness." it's frusterating sometimes... i'm sort of breaking the "rules" by emailing so often. kathy asked us only to come into town once a week, but i seem to keep finding a reason to be here. it's always so rushed though, and so much to say.

the students at st. boniface are TOO much! such amazing musicians, stronger than me many of them, and just high school seniors. i'm grateful to have a bit of time in the afternoons and on fridays to spend with the older kids... we hung out after choir yesterday and sand traditional music... anna and i are trying to get the footwork down. like i said, their rhythms are assymmetrically challenging for our western feet. i enjoy their spirits, very fun... how else to describe them? a bit of hip hop in their blood... actually, a lot of hip hop, but innocent, open, eager, respectful, lovely accents, inquisitive, hopeful. their is a young woman, lorato, that i am hoping to get to know better. what a voice. she and another woman sang for us a piece they had done at a competition... an aria. they gave us the full rendition, just the two of them hopping from bass part to the orchestral part to the tenor and soprano duet. laughing and dancing all the way through.

more tonight... i think we will come back in to town for dinner, just the four teachers. that will be nice, i'm looking forward to it. we seem to have a pretty good balance of spending our time with people from the community and having down time. i need both right now.

love love.
