these are perfect fall days. breezy, a bit cooler, cool enough to walk in short sleeves without sweating. earlier dusk and moments ago two female friends walking by my front porch slowly, talking with giant mugs of steaming goodness in their hands. i walked to and from work today. stopped to buy veggies and fresh bread. i eat chicken and potatoes. contemplate beef stew. apple pie. save a recipe for stuffed peppers. i hop into extra hot water in my clawfoot tub. soap and soak for a few precious minutes. throw on jeans and sweater before german class.
i'm so thankful. the kids play outside and now i'm on to beethoven in g major. my fingers adjust and my new sofa comes friday. i sink into teaching today and feel the children respond. i consider the weekend ahead, and look forward.
last friday i went to a taize service at my new church. candles only, and so still inside. i weep easily. relax. the choir stands in back, and i felt circles grow in my belly with each repitition of sacred song. flute and warm glow soothe me. and this is just one thing that jesus has gifted.
