day 30

in the spirit of things light and celebratory, of a year finishing (thank GOD), and of looking forward to something... in the spirit of this glass is half full, i would like to declare a thirty day blog.

there is more i would like to say here, but it is raw and unfinished feeling. so i will say that i see growing in stages, and we need to mark time somehow. this is an attempt perhaps to mark the finishing of something, the beginning of something. and the space in between.

it is only one trip. two weeks. a blink perhaps. but i feel compelled to drink it in, to share more, and to countdown like children do.

so thirty days left until my trip to europe this summer. i will hike 100 miles around a big mountain, through france and italy and switzerland. i will talk to strangers and drink french wine. i will breath as deeply as possible and let my feet walk one step at a time.

jen and i hiked echo mountain this morning. the trail was narrow for so much rain induced sage and wildflowers. the scent woke me up inside on some deep level, and i imagined wild sage and rosemary seeping into the fibers of my lungs.

i sweat profusely, and wondered many things. if i am ready for 14 miles a day. how can i find a good wicking sports bra that is not racer back. if i should start getting up at 6 and hiking before i teach. is this the right way to tie my boots for optimal support? i should buy tissues and moleskin and a good sunscreen. and a hat, definately need a hat.

i ate peanuts and cranberrys, my antioxident power snack.

and now i am late for my sushi date.
