the day is cool and clear and i feel a touch of east coast spring in the wind. the women behind me in old town this afternoon said it was FREEZING! that i can't agree with, but refreshing yes. i feel apprehensive about the heat that's coming soon... esp with a car that officially has a defunct air conditioner. can i justify a new car just for the air? can i afford a new car?

spoke to a harambee work group last night and feel excited about seeing people grasp the whole gospel and God in His character of justice. i used three passages, Isaiah 58, Zechariah 7, and Matthew 25, the sheep and the goats. (thanks rudy) there was something about using scripture to speak to this mostly white upper class group of college students that gave me much courage to say tough things. i hope i was gentle and sensitive as well, but there was a passion about speaking to our God that loves us enough that He will not allow any of us to be hungry, thirsty, naked, without shelter, or oppressed without being our advocate. i've been blessed to live a life where i haven't had to experience the physical poverty, but i have family in the body of Christ that have. and so i speak without holding back. we must ask who is our flesh and blood. we must be ready to ask tough questions. we must rely on a love that is beyond ourselves. God give us courage.

i want to compile a list of good books for work groups to read to follow up on time at harambee. suggestions?
